Has anyone noticed the odd appropriation of pieces of music incorporated into TV programs and films in Turkey.

There was ATV news on the other day and in the background was "The Theme from Grange Hill" -a kids program from the UK.

A regular feature of "Wheel of Fortune"- Carkifelek is for some reason getting contestants to dance to "Give me hope Joanna" Eddy Grant's anti-appartheid song.

and a Saturday morning kids show regularly uses "Turning Japanese" by The Vapors. (I wonder if the producers really know what the song is about?)

Has anyone else spotted any similar such things?

Hi

I think its fair to say that the concept of hiding a message in a song is lost on these fair folk. Some of the background music on some of the old 70/80 style films is just laughable. Picture a moving love scene, with all the emotional eye contact and warm intimacy such a moment holds and the theme tune for "Starskey and Hutch" playing in the background. Talk about killing the moment!
Perhaps we could see a political rally with "Everybody wants to rule the world" as the musical anthem!
