there was an ad in chronicle careers on 30/07, for full-time faculty members at SP jain centre for management for their overseas campuses (at Dubai and Singapore), offering a lucrative 140000 to 150000 USD. This ad never came in any of the Indian prints....does the institute think there is a derth of competent professionals in India?
One thing worth noting is that at both the campuses of the institute the maximum number of students are form India and other 3rd world countries and less of natives - for example in Singapore campus, I heard there are only 6 Singaporeans studying!!! |

Are the jobs for teachers of management or English? If the students are from rich families and fees are high, they may feel they want only native speakers of English. Here in Dubai you can learn English at private institutes and choose a native speaker or an Indian. Course fees are much higher if you opt for the former. |

The ad says they want distinguished faculty with PhDs in business management and proof of excellence in teaching. They claim they welcome any nationality. |

Did you look at the faculty profiles? They are distinguished in their fields. Jain appears to be much more like Wharton than some ESL cram school.
This might explain their desire to recruit globally rather than locally. I'm certain that a quality Indian that showed up with a PhD from MIT or INSEAD would probably be in the running for a job. |

I read through many of the lists on their Faculty link and I only managed to find one name/picture that wasn't an Indian.
So... what is the problem again? Oh yeah... it's an old thread that has re-appeared. Luxorhouse... if they are offering the salaries mentioned in the OP's post to professors, it must be pretty legit. I'm not sure how many or if they hire for EFL though.

Thanks, VS. I was just wondering whether it was legit because of the salaries offered. |

Ah...ok... these days we can never be sure, but I don't believe that many of the scammers use the Chronicle, do they? That number may also be the total benefit package and that would about right for for a Full Professor. I fear that won't be many here on Dave's with direct experience.
Did you see an ad for TEFL or are you just curious?

I had applied in May of this year, and last week received an email regarding an interview in the US. (I applied for a Communication position, have an MA in Communication and significant corporate experience). |

I should have added that I have teaching experience at the university and technical college levels (writing, public speaking). |

I'd definitely interview with them and see how it goes - as long as it didn't cost me money to do so. I noticed that they have a Western woman in Communications on the website. |

I definitely plan to, for what it's worth, as long as I don't have to spend any money up front. Apparently, the Deans who will be interviewing will be in the US Sept. 13-20 and interviews will be done at airports in San Francisco, Dallas, and New York. I'll report back. |
