Hi everyone,
I'm currently debating my plane ticket date because of many factors *(mainly health insurance).

I was wondering if any of you could tell me if finding a job is easier in early October, or early January?

I hear there are always jobs in Mexico City for English teachers, but I was thinking Christmas might have an effect on this.
Also, I hear language schools operate in 3 month class cycles, so I would hate to arrive and have to wait 3 months to start working.

Any suggestions?

Right now, probably October too, will be a tough time to find work. The school year is starting and the jobs teaching kids in colegios and in uni's are already filled.

Language institutes are usually hiring as are business English classes.

December is not the time to look for work at all. There are some jobs in January from teachers that quit during the winter break.

Those 3 month cycles are staggered and each school is different. You won't have to wait to find work in an institute.

Thanks for the heads up,
so I guess arriving in October is better then January.
If you have any leads on French/English teaching positions that you can't fill, please pass them this way!
*(I'll be sure to do the same once I've got a job and hear of something available)

The worst time to arrive in Mexico City is 2am. The risk of crime is high and it can be hard to get your bearings. I'd say the best time is about 10am. The morning traffic has started to taper off and it's safer. It is much easier to experience Mexico City.

October is an ok time to arrive in Mexico City, in terms of finding a job, but I think January is much better. Schools and institutes will be replacing the teachers who went home over Christmas and never returned. Also, business get a new training budget for the new year and institutes see an increase in students fulfilling their new year's resolutions.
