Hi I'm in China and have 4-5 days for a holiday. I wanted to see Tokyo but I have no idea what area I should get a hotel in.
Can someone recommend a decent area that's worthy of staying in a small decent inexpensive hotel for me?
I will fly into NRT then venture into the city.
Please note that I know nothing at all about Tokyo and just want to play tourist for 4 days.
So if you can, recommend the name / area of hotel and what train station it is close to.
I prefer to take the airport express into the city.
And if you can recommend some tourist attractions would be ok also.
Thanks |

How much do you want to spend? Also, can save coin by taking the Kesei line to Nishi-Nippori, that's striking distance from anywhere. As for the sites, there's the Imperial Palace, the fish market, Ginza, electronics districts, Shibuya, Harajuku and Yoyogi park. What are you in to?
Enjoy,

Staying at a capsule hotel would only set you back about $25-30 US a night. At least, that's how much it was two years ago and I doubt much has changed. There are tons in Tokyo. |

While I am not poor I really prefer a bed and a room I can go to during the day.
Whats a good district to stay in? |

Shinjuku and Asakusa are good areas to stay in. Shinjuku is on the west side, is a transportation hub near many places of interest and is the better of the two if you are into going out late. Asakusa is in the more traditional areas of Tokyo and is handy to the Keisei line for the airport.
Both areas have reasonably-priced business hotels, the Toyoko Inn chain is one. They have an English website and you can make online bookings. |

I will give a vote for Asakusa. Handy to everything cool. Some reasonable hotels in the area too. |

I've stayed at the YMCA Asia Youth Centre near Suidobashi station, not far from Akihabara, and in a quiet little neighborhood. It is open to all ages and families, is clean, reasonably priced: about 6000 yen, and they have free internet.
