|
|
So I officially am free from work on the 1st of October and then fly out on the 17th from Osaka.
If you had 2 and a half weeks left what would you do? I am living in Shiga just north of Kyoto so I have done Kansai pretty much to death and outside of pricey trips to Hokkaido and Okinawa am looking to see some more of Japan before I go.
I am planning on rolling through Tokyo one last time since I only visited it once and wondering about any other worthwhile spots in Kanto or even Tohoku since I have seen very little of that area. I also never ended up going to a sumo match here which I would like to do, any in October?
What would YOU recommend doing? |

No sumo in October but there is one in September in Tokyo:

Have you been to any baseball games? If I could do it over again, I would have eaten like a complete pig in the last few weeks. I miss the food a lot and I can't wait to visit over the holidays with my wife. We've made a list of what to eat and not what to see or do. |

Ditto on the food. I haven't been back in over two years and I still miss it. |

I was going to recommend taking up the little-practised sport of 'Dispatcher dispatching', but I see that Hoser has beaten me to it with his similar suggestion of 'B*stard bashing'. Failing that you could stroll into an MMA gym and issue a challenge to the resident instructor. |

I've only been to Okinawa and Kansai, so I'd not be much help, but if I could do one thing again it would be to see Himeji-jo (befoer they cover it up again to do a reconstruction job) and go back ot Hiroshima when it is not raining and see/stay on Miyajima. Go back to the Daisho-in temple. And hopefully they've reopened the trails up the mountain on the island. Eat Hiroshima okonomiyaki (its different -lots of negi) and the good beer. There's a suprisingly good okonomiyaki/teppanyaki restaurant in the train station. |

Chill in Tokyo.
And I live here, so that's saying something. |

Hell, yes! I spent the majority of my time in neighboring Chiba Prefecture, and could never get enough of Tokyo. I spent just about every day of my last week there, just soaking in the energy and seeing my favorite places for the last time.
I miss Tokyo. |

They also have the good beer -aka not lager.
Ask for the local Hiroshima brew, whatever it's called... |
