[quoteExcept most research says that direct correction does not work. Another reason one cannot do a good demo unless they can understand the crazy logic of Taiwanese bosses.[/quote]

I totally agree!

Yeah this is my first week at a new job. The boss told me, some parents called because their children could not understand.

What do they expect? The class is only in English and they are in the class lower than the other first graders. They are learning the ABC's.

How would they ever understand everything in class?

Ha ha! I had a class of "lower than fist graders" once. I taught them the ABC's and simple sentences for a year. They were pretty good at what they knew. They were around 4 and 5 years old (in theory), when they started to put little words together - (c-at, b-at, r-at) the parents got excited because their tiny babies were learning to read.

A month later, a mother complained to the director that after a year of classes, her daughter couldn't read the NEWSPAPER! Her kid was 5-freaking-years old!!

My boss totally put her in her place. This is what I liked about my director, she sided with her teachers - even when she had doubts about them. She was harsh and cold at times, but I always knew she had my back.

Anyway, I hope your boss stood behind you with that complaint. The parent needed to be told that kids need time to adjust and get used to a new teacher. I suspect that 3 weeks down the road, her kid will be following just fine....
