I going to work in S.Korea next month. At first I was planning to buy oneway plane ticket, make a stop over in Hongkong to make my work visa and my spouse depend visa for my wife, but all of the travel agent refused to sell us one way ticket, they told me that unless i have round trip ticket or my work visa in hand, Indonesian Govt. wouldn't let us fly out. So i'm planning to get mine n my wife's visa in Jakarta, that way i can buy one way ticket to S.Korea. But again, after talking to the agent, they said that no matter what visa my wife has, she (being an Indonesian) still requires a round trip ticket.

Anybody has experience in this matter?

It is no business of the Indonesian government where you fly to or with which ticket - however, the airline and its agents certainly won't knowingly carry you if you don't have a valid visa because they get a big fine for bringing you in and have to fly you back at their expense if you are refused entry.

The bit about your wife sounds like BS. S Korea may refuse entry without a return ticket - check with their consulate - but, again, it's no business of the Indonesian authorities. Sounds like the agent is sort of aware that there might be problems but utterly misunderstands what those problems are. Also sounds like s/he is on a better rate of comission for selling a return...

Go to Korea airline website and try booking a single yourself.

a) One way tickets are a complete rip-off. You are not saving much money.

b) Buy a one way from Singapore to Korea via HK (or even get the visa in Singapore. Buy online at zuji.com.sg
