I know of people who have done it. Unless you KNOW that you will be there for more than 4 or 5 years, I think it is a waste of time, money, and aggravation. The first step is to make sure that you can even get it worked on over there. I don't recall ever seeing an American style mini-van of any make or model over there, though they may have appeared in the last few years. Also if it is like mine, make sure that they have the proper computer equipment to work on the American system. I suspect that this would be a major issue.

Personally... I'd say put it in storage or sell it.

VS

(PS: when I posted this I was just thinking of the Gulf in general, but this is Kuwait... the bureaucracy in Kuwait is the absolute worst - OK maybe a tie with Saudi - but the thought of trying to do this... let's just say that a much more pleasant experience would be a couple of root canals without anesthesia)

i knew a woman who had sentimental attachment to her car, a chevy nova, and had it shipped to kuwait.
she and her husband lost 2 weeks minimum from their jobs to do paperwork and clear it from customs in addition to the shipping, clearance, brokage, and demurage (that's storage in port of customs byond the standard 48 hours) fees that made that car very expensive. then they realized there were maybe 3 other chevy novas here in kuwait and parts (even a basic oil filter , fan belt and battery) were EXPENSIVE because of the unpopularity of that model in kuwait.
when she left kuwait, she couldn't sell it - nobody knew or trusted that model. she ended up giving the car to a local driver who drove other teachers (she thought she was being magnanimious) and after it needed a/c maintenance he drove to the junk yard and traded it for some small amount of body work on an ole model mercedes.....
vans are becoming more popular but they are in no way common here
SUVs are minivans here and have been for years, you should be able to get a used one easily
if you still want to shipping company, PM me
