Well, according to Prof Sir Magdi Yacoub, the expert in heart surgery (not a Math teacher or a miserable EFLer!), said this:
The range of normal heart rate:
Adults (including seniors): 60 - 101 beats per minute
Children 1 to 10 years: 70 - 120 beats per minute
Newborn infants: 100 - 160 beats per minute
Well-trained athletes: 40 - 60 beats per minute
So, do you think children less than 10 years are not unfit because their heart rate is not low?
99 is within the normal range of [60 - 101] for an adult, is't it?

No, thank you both of you Trapez and Uncle Scot, I have got my free membership with a Gym, any day and any time!

Well, your fees is more expensive than BUPA! Nobody will go to your surgery, Uncle Scot! |

Please show me ANYWHERE where what you posted contradicts what I posted.
I said the AVERAGE is 80. You did not refute that. You just a provided a range. And the range happens to be 60-101 for adults. And I said your rate of 99 was "way above average", and that is still true. Infact, it is almost at the upper limit, which signifies being severely overweight and/or unfit.

How low of you to bring up such irrelevance. I was talking about the heart rate of adults, and so are you, but then you bring up kids?
Anyway, just because you are within the range (actually, at the upper end) does not mean it is OK. Cholesterol level and blood pressure also have a range, but it doesn't mean it is OK to be at the upper limits of those. Talking of those, since your heart rate is so high, I think you should get your cholesterol level and blood pressure checked as well (sincere advice). Catch it before it is too late.
And good job for going to the gym... lifestyle changes are the best way to tackle these than with powerful drugs. But make sure to make nutritional changes as well. Lay off the rice, white bread, fast food, cookies, donuts, crisps, etc. Eat lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, olive oil, oily fish, whole grains and their products, beans, lentils, fresh/dried herbs, etc, and make sure to drink enough water.
You can contact me at my username at gmail dot com for more [free] advice, if you wish. Just because I am a math teacher doesn't mean that math is the only thing I am an expert at! |

Dear trapezius,
Regarding exercise, would you recommend banging one's head on a computer keyboard?
Your avatar does seem to lose weight that way.

Dear John,
If we exclude weight-loss due to flesh-loss, yes head-banging does burn calories, and so could theoretically lead to weight-loss, albeit very slowly. However, looking at the ratio of pain endured to weight lost, it is not a very efficient method.
I would recommend taking your shirt off in the middle of a large mall at around 11 pm in Ramadan and running up and down all the alleys like a madman screaming and shouting at the top of your voice "They are coming to get me", preferably in Arabic!
Regards,
[It's a] trap |

Dear trapezius,
Sounds more to me like a self-fulfilled prophecy.
