Hi,
I used the search function, but couldn't find a definitive answer to my FM3 question.
Does your employer own your FM3? That is to say, once you get an FM3 through your employer, do you lose it if you get another job? Does your FM3 basically list who you employer is and state that you can only work for them?
I have a seemingly cush job at an international school right now with benefits and everything, but I've had about enough of it and am seriously considering finding another job as long as I can do that with the FM3 that I am about to get through my school.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can clear this up for me. |

Yes, the only part you will need to change on your FM3 is who you work for. It's not a complicated process but it will cost you. I can't remember how much. |

If your current school is sponsoring and paying for your FM3 and you immediately leave them upon receiving it, you can be sure they will have that FM3 "put down" with Immigration really quickly. They are required to do that by law anyway, no matter who pays. It will do you no good elsewhere (as posted above) and the appropriate changes must be made by you within 30 days.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do. |

Thank you for the replies. That is exactly the info I needed. As long as the FM3 is mine, I wouldn't mind paying the employer transfer fee if I could find another job. In any case, I'm not planning on pulling a runner. I have already discussed leaving at the semester break in December with my principal and we have planned to talk about the issue again in case they need to fill my position. |

Just make sure you have your FM3 physically in your paws before you hand in any resignation notices. We should always be in control of our own papers. |
