Has anybody taught at or know anything about Markham College in Miraflores? The website is impressive, but I couldn't find anything about how much they pay. I am going down in Oct., and might try to talk to them.

Thanks

I can tell you about them. Good British school, pay is about 3K USD a month. YOu'll need to be a certified, licensed teacher with 2 years, at least experience. It's an IBO school. Expect LOTS of stress, teachers leave becaue of it. And office politics, no on'es paid the same so no one likes each other.

Thanks, Naturegirl.

Do you think there is more stress here than working in Public school in the U.S. (Special Ed.)?? I can't imagine it if there is! 3K sounds sweet! From what you posted, I definitely qualify, but am scared now : o
I have an interview next week!
Thanks again!

Having left the US years ago and never taught there. I really couldn't see. BUT I tell my mom about what my schools, I've taught in two schools and two unis here in Peru, are like and she's shocked at the behaviour.

Congrats on the interview. Hope you get it. See your PM as well.

Hi, I will be working there next year. If you are already in the country you probably wont get quite 3K, but it is still substantially better than you will be paid in 97% of other schools.

Where will you be? Primary or Secondary?

In the past it has been known as a snobby, stuffy school. There is a new headmaster and new head of primary. Things are changing for the better there.

Any questions PM me if you like.

Yep, I htink that the image is changing. What's the pay like if you're hired in country?

Deadly serious. Not open during school hours of course. The height of civilisation I would say.
