I'm not sure where you're located in Mexico City, but where I am there is a restaurant called Taco Inn (I think). They may have the bean burrito and possibly the supreme.
The pictures they have outside looks like it's a close resemblence to Taco Bell in the States. I'm in the south part of the city and the Taco Inn I saw is in Cuicuilco. I can't find anything online so I'll go by tomorrow and see if I can get a number and more addresses for you.

You might also try Chili's...they have some pretty bad food that might fill that hole. There's a Chili's in that new Holiday Inn mall on Reforma near the Angel.

My Mexican friends in Petaluma, CA, wouldn't be caught dead in a Taco Bell.

While I loved the bland gringo "tacos" made out of a curled tostado, American hamburger meat, lettuce, American cheese and tomatoes, they cringed when I ate them - even with a good dose of "hot sauce" from the little plastic bag.

I don't really think this franchise would be popular in Mexico but does anyone know where I can find an Arby's? Razz

from what i have found online they have at least two somewhere in mexico city, but they never say WHERE. they also said when they opened, due to a failed attempt 15 years ago, they took out half page ads in newspapers explaining that they were most certainly not mexican food, just something...else.
i love that something else. if i knew what they did to their bean and meat, seasoning wise, i would just make it.

it's also totally cheddar cheese, which is so much better than that poo called american. i am being a cheese elitist here, talking about fake mexican food.

Arby's I've never seen in Mexico, but damn, you just gave me a craving for a Montreal smoked meat sandwich.

I wonder if the airport here has a Taco Bell or an Arby's? Cajun Grill there is pretty good.

Check this: http://mx.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080824222259AABOOjz. No idea how reliable it is, but one person suggests that one is a couple blocks from the cathedral in Coyoacn and the other might be in Plaza Universidad.

This is the only clue I've found.

I sure hope you have a Taco Bell! We have one here in Monterrey. I'm also pregnant, and can NOT explain why Taco Bell has been figuring heavily into my cravings - both the disgusting nachos and the bean burrito. Why is this? The sodium? Is it a strange alternative to pickles? I don't know. I wish you luck!

Taco Bell is in Mexico at least according to this report- http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2007-10-09-tacobell-mexico_N.htm?csp=34

Taco Bell is good stuff.

Oh, no! Who will tell me I'm going to hell now? Laughing

I can't understand anyone's craving the stuff that Taco Bell dishes out, especially when you're living in Mexico! Confused The one time I made the mistake of eating at one (in the States), I got sick to my stomach (literally, sort of NOB "turista"!). Not to mention that the tacos I ate were greasy and tasteless.

It's the height of cultural-culinary chutzpa to think that Taco Bell's desecration (oops, I mean interpretation) of Mexican food would have any kind of success here!!

Now, do not be so harsh on the Bell!

I really hope they open one in DF. I will be in line on opening day. Make a run for the border! Yo quiero Taco Bell.

Tasty Stuff!

That's the thing. Chili's is not even close to Taco Bell and it's expensive. The appeal of Taco Bell is not that it's authentic Mexican food, but in that it's cheap, filling, fast and a different twist on Mexican food. Think Tex-Mex fast food with a value menu.

Now I can't stop craving some Taco Bell. I always liked their burrito's and Mexican pizza. The grilled stuft burrito was pretty good but a little pricy by my Taco Bell standards... I always go/went for the value menu. $.99 cent Cheesy Bean and Rice quarter pound burrito...Tasty Stuff!
