Is it for EFL? If so, there have have a number of discussions lately on the offers for the current hires. It naturally differs according to your credentials. What will not differ is that you will get housing, a furniture allowance, health insurance, gratuity, flights, school allowances for a couple kids, and a couple months of paid leave over the year.

Salary may also differ if you are teaching content courses.

Liquid.

HCT has agreements with numerous people in each emirate to provide housing. But it is a random allotment as to what you get.

You could be right across from the college or all the way on the other side of sharjah.

There is no way to make very generalized statements about the housing.

It is safe to say that most HCT housing is acceptable and for a family, it is usually spacious. Note that I didn't say "all" or "always." The last teachers to arrive for a new semester tend to get the least desirable of the housing inventory. So, while one may have a huge flat with maid's quarters, there is no guarantee and it may just be a basic 2 bedroom.

In the past, you used to be able to push for a better flat if the one you are assigned is below par. (which is what I did) But, nowadays the rental market in the Emirates is very very tight and you might have to wait for a year or so until a better place opens up.

Oh... and one always treats the housing people with great respect. Laughing They will be the ones who can help get a better place.

Er...my maid's room would be best described as a medium-sized walk-in closet...and I live in a NICE place. Very Happy I'm afraid that, by and large, they don't treat their maids very well in these parts and you hear stories all the time about physical abuse...so the accomodation aforded them would be minimal. Crying or Very sad

That being said, I think that the HCT tries it's darndest to put their people in places with a pool or some kind of Fitness activity room. So, you got that goin' fer ya!
