Can anyone tell me where a person over 60 can be hired? I am currently in Korea, but I would like to experience something new. I would love to go to Vietnam, but have been told they don't hire people over 60. I have my M.Ed in English, and I have four years experience teaching in Mexico and Korea. Twenty years of experience teaching English in the states. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

You could come back to Mexico. I'm a year older than you and haven't had problems finding work here. I get the occasional offer from a language institute, but I prefer to teach privately, and none of my students has ever asked for a resume or how old I am!

China and most of SE Asia, especially (according to another thread) HCMC, so it looks like even Vietnamese schools may be hiring over-60s, whatever the official govt. policy is.

I think you would have no problem finding work in Russia. I have met a few teachers (especially in the universities) who are about your age.
Good luck!

If you go private (like MO39) I imagine you can probably choose your location, so long as there are people in the area who can afford to pay for tuition. While age might be an issue for some schools, I think most people see age as a sign of experience, especially in the education field. Wherever you choose, go there with some money in the bank (or under the bed might be better these days!) to tide you through the first months while you get set up. I'm not suggesting that finding work with a school is unlikely - but that it isn't necessary.
