Hi one and all,

I'm a newbie to Dave's ESL cafe and as such have spent a large part of my day trawling through all the threads on the subject matter that is teaching English in Spain. One thing I have noticed is how easy it is to come across threads warning teachers against applying to certain language schools. That in itself is brilliant, it's always good to have such advice at your fingertips, but one thing that does seem to be lacking is any consensus on reputable language schools in the Madrid area.

I was wondering if anyone would be as kind to RECOMMEND me some language schools? I'm not sure if it's a matter of different people seeing and experiencing different things - or maybe it's a matter of me not looking hard enough - but so far I have not come across a good deal of consensus on good, reputable language schools in Madrid. Or is it purely a matter of jumping on a plane to Madrid armed with my TEFL certificate?

Thanks in advance Smile

Hi Kibera,

The first thing to learn on this forum is NOT to take every post seriously - lots of clowns about. I've never taught in Madrid but it's safe to say there must be quite a few good schools in such a large, English-hungry city. As a general rule of thumb, I'd say International House and British Council schools are reputable and at the better end of the wage structure. Having said that, if you're a complete newbie you may have difficulty finding work with them. But there will be other good schools. It might be worth your while checking out other sources of information, as there's far less traffic on Dave's than there used to be. Anyway, best of luck.
