I'm sure many if not most EFL teachers have thought one time or another about starting their own school. Have any of you gone down that path? If so, what advice would you give a would-be school owner/operator? What are/were the biggest difficulties? Where did you start your school(s), and did you do so alone? What were the costs involved?
It'd be great to read your stories (hopefully success stories Smile.

I-m considering it. BUt the long list of paperwork that-s required is putting me off. I can-t start until next year though, I-m in the middle of immigration paperwork now

Have run one.

Have worked in several that gave me a bird's eye view of what the owner dealt with.

Would not start my own, for love, money, or anything else you could give me.

Best,
Justin

I have often thought of it and done some estimates. But I wouldn't do it unless I had a partner I could trust to handle all the business end and complaints.
