hi everyone

I do teacher training for public school teachers currently and our program is sponsored by the government. It's a great opportunity for teachers here and I was wondering if Hong Kong had anything similar?

I realize the requirements to work in a program like this would be a bit higher but I do have an M.A. in TESOL (not online) and several years of experience.

As part of the PNET scheme there are ATs - Advisory teachers- whose job it is to run PD sessions and also support NETs in their schools.

Ann, don't ATTs have to be bilingual in Cantonese and English? I know of one Westerner who applied for an ATT post after many years on the SNET scheme (he was a teacher trainer back in Australia) and who was told that as the majority of the paperwork would be in traditional Chinese and most meetings would be held in Cantonese his application could not be processed.

That individual was being given the run-around for some reason; Many of the ATs in the PNET Scheme are Westerners, with a few locals having been hired this year. The Westerners are most certainly not fluent in Chinese.

I cannot speak/write for the SNET Scheme.

Noelle, perhaps you could contact the EdB and inquire as to whether or not they allow non-EdB personnel give PD workshops. If you are an expert in your field they might consider what you can offer.

Arrow I used to be an expert in my field... until the farmer left the gate open. I galloped like the wind towards the nearest bus stop. (sigh)

The rest, as they say, is history.
