Thankyou for your help.
I am looking right now, for the right choice. You see the problem is the ministry of education in Lebanon does not accept a masters on line degree.
Anyway I have to research harder. Embarassed

I would look into the ADU programme. You've got nothing to lose. I don't know anything about it, so I can't tell you if it's good or not. What I do know is that ADU's Masters in business administration has a great reputation as a friend of mine was considering it. So I would say it's worth researching it. I would even call HCT again and ask them if they know anything about the ADU programme and if it has a good reputation. What do you have to lose?

Anything you see on these threads here related to ICS- The Institute of Continuing Studies. That programme is not the same as Abu Dhabi University itself. The two are quite separate and so the postings you'll find on "Abu Dhabi University" are not relevant to your search for the Masters programme.

Another thing might be to look into DELTA. If you are looking at working in a language institute type setting, this might be more your speed until your child is older. But of course a masters is a masters and is necessary for some institutions.

Good luck with your search!

MBA from ADU has a great reputation? That's incredible--the university is too new and does not have a good reputation overall. Is the MBA program internationally accredited?

From wikipedia:

Business schools or MBA programs may be accredited by external bodies which provide students and employers with an independent view of their quality, and indicate that the school's educational curriculum meets specific quality standards. The three major accrediting bodies are The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) which accredits research universities, the Association of Collegiate Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) which accredits junior colleges and teaching colleges, and the International Assembly for Collegiate Business Education (IACBE) [3]. The AACSB and the ACBSP are recognized accrediting agencies for business schools in the United States by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).[4] MBA programs with specializations for students pursuing careers in healthcare management also eligible for accreditation by the Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).[/i]

The above mention of the AACSB being the business accreditor of research universities is a bit oversimplified. My undergraduate institution is a smaller, regional university in the Pennsylvania countryside, offering bachelor's and master's degrees only; it is not a national university, but its business college is one of only 400 worldwide that is AACSB-accredited.

I thought the ADU MBA only started this academic year - so it can't have established any reputation at all yet!

Reemmalak, suggest you wait until your child is old enough for you to be able to leave them while you go to Dubai. The MA at British University in Dubai has a good reputation and their graduates tend to move on to better jobs with higher salaries.

Well, i have time till next fall to decide. By then my baby will be almost a year and half old and so i can leave her with her dad.
However, the overall curriculum at ADU seems ok and by fall of 2009 it will come clear how there program is.
Check out their curriculum in TEFL on this link:

First off I wouldn't make my decision based on their website - which is pretty unimpressive. I notice that it says nothing about its being accredited - which likely means that it is not. It says that all the profs have Western degrees, but I don't see their names or credentials as most legitimate institutions do.

Would it even be recognized in Lebanon? (assuming that you are heading back there some day...)

Personally, I wouldn't touch this MA with a barge pole. It has no track record.

I had a look at the website and found a list of faculty members at http://www.adu.ac.ae/en/article/faculty-1.html
2 people have PhDs in TEFL or Applied Linguistics and one has a PhD in Educational Psychology - hardly enough people to put a balanced MA programme together.

Yes, NCTBA, there is always this possibility, but let's assume that these are honestly achieved PhD's. I find it odd that they don't link to the profs in the MA TEFL area of the website... why should we have to spend ages searching the site to try to figure out who teaches there? It is a very unimpressive website.

Not to mention that with a new program and very few students, they could probably manage with 3 professors, but certainly not an optimal situation. I wonder if they are shared with other departments...
