I thought we ought to have a list of recommended schools to balance out the other. I'll go first:

Instituto Baden-Powell, Morelia, Michoacn

Good reputation, serious about teaching english, motivated students, treat teachers well, pay on time.

Instituto Amigos Del Sol, Oaxaca, Oaxaca. A good starter job with lots of freedom and very sweet and appreciative students.

Also not recommended Quick Learning in Mexico City. As part of your job you are required to arrive 30 minutes early each day to pray. Owner is a member of a stand alone sect of some kind (not a recognized denomination, if that actually makes a difference). Also, they discriminate on basis of age, if you are over 35, you need not apply. When confronted by a Bible verse that would seem to indicate that type of behavior was un-Christian, there was no response whatsoever.

I've never applied for a job at Quick Learning because I find the name misleading and offensive. Now that I know it's run by religious zealots, I'm relieved that I never set foot on the premises!

I'm sure that that kind of behaviour is not only un-Christian, but illegal too.

I would refer no one to QUIT learning. For sure they will not hire one if over 35 plus they just aren't very nice when interviewing one. Rude is the word that comes to mind.

Sadly, I cant recommend any at all, just a few, select independent teachers.
