So...maybe someone out there can help me. I'm looking at teaching in Vietnam but the schools that I want to apply for ask for a "clean" criminal record...Does that mean nothing at all? Or, maybe, light infractions are OK? I have a low level misdemeanor (disorderly conduct) ) from 12 years ago on my record. How much of a problem is this going to be? |

Reputable schools want to see your background check in order to protect their students, as well as to apply for a Work Permit on your behalf. A misdemeanor from 12 years ago may well have been purged from your records, have you checked? If it's still on your record, you may be given the benefit of the doubt if you explain the circumstances, and if your history since that incident shows that you have been a responsible person. |
