I am thinking of working as a Primary Teacher in Dubai, I would appreciate some comments on what sort of salary I could get with the following. I have a B.ed in English & Drama, and have been teaching for 26 years as a Primary Teacher in KS1, and am an English co-ordinator for KS1 and KS2.
Also I am 52 will this be a problem? Thanks everybody. |

Come on NCTBA... it's her first post... she's a kindergarten teacher, not an English teacher.
Sorry I can't help you, Mair. Your age shouldn't be an issue. I will have to let one of our few posters here with teaching at that level step in to talk about pay.
Just be sure to do a search of any school before accepting positions. There are some bad ones out there.

And, as it's in Dubai, make sure the accommodation is provided, or you'll wind up in a world of hurt. Your value, whatever it is at your level will be moot if you have to make up for the shortfall.

With your experience you should be able to get into any of the International schools in the UAE.
As for what you are worth, that is rather subjective. It depends on the school, the emirate and the position you are after.
Many folks say they want to come to Dubai and don't realize there are many other emirates with opportunities available.
As NCTBA said be sure to make sure your housing is provided (not a housing allowance) because the housing market across the UAE is outrageous and finding a place could take months. |
