| Well, it depends on what it you are going to use the bank account for, if you are going to use a bank just to keep money for you with no hassles I recommend going to Cho Hung Vina Bank. They will give you a dollar account, which you can put money into without paperwork. They are not HSBC but they are one of the biggest banks in Korea with a location in Saigon. They are located on Ho Tung Mau near the bridge the connects district 1 and district 4. |

I just need a checking account to deposit and withdraw from. I was considering HSBC because I know them and they have ATMs all around town. With this in mind, do you think that other bank is still a better choice?
thanks SOO much! |

you can also try ANZ bank
just bring your passport to open an account. $200 to open, but once open, you only need $10 left in the account to mantain it. Internet banking also.the atm card takes about 4-5 working days to process.
HSBC requires $500, and they want proof of address with police stamp. a lot of BS just to open an acc. It's a very busy branch, the only one, though more branches are opening shortly. You need to find somewhere to park your motorbike, can't just leave it outside and quickly pop in, a hassle.
i do have a HSBC acc overseas, so it was my 1st choice, but sod all that crap. wasn't as if i was gonna transfer money overseas....blah ...blah.
plus, i found the service better at ANZ ( i can be positive about VN, sometimes),all the staff spoke good English, free parking for motorbikes, and best of all,a short waiting time before u got served. |
