Did you pay taxes or finalize them before you left the country?
If so you should have been given a 'Withholding and Non-withholding tax statement' which you can present as official proof.

I paid my taxes before I left and got my refund all taken care of too. I went to the tax office with a friend with this yellow piece of paper that my boss and I filled out. The office took the yellow paper and other papers so my friend would get my refund. All I got was a strip off the bottom of the yellow paper as a type of receipt, but all it has are my ID number, a receipt code, my name, and a stamp from the tax office.

I have no physical papers beyond that tiny strip of paper. My friend paid me cash before I left because he figured it would be less of a bother than transferring the money between countries.

Your employer should be able to provide you with the official form you need, failing that I'd try to send all your info plus any info you may have on that strip of paper to someone you trust in Taiwan who can make enquiries on your behalf. Other than that I don't know what to suggest, we always make sure to get tax forms from our employers before we leave 'cos we actually have to pay Canadian taxes on our earnings and need the forms to prove income (damn Canadian Government ),.

Anybody know what the paper is called? My boss doesn't read English, and I practically had to twist his arm for him to submit all the proper paperwork to the Taiwanese government folks. After he said he took care of everything, I went to the tax office, did my part, and they said they needed my boss to fax over one other piece of paper (his official records of my pay). They were very surprised he hadn't given it to me. So, he's not on the ball already, so I need to be as specific as possible.
