Is it correct to assume K12 schools follow Ministry of Education guidelines for hiring teachers? As in they require a degree in English education and a teaching certificate?
Would my degree plus TESL certificate only qualify me for private institutions? |

Most of the schools require a 4 year university degree plus a teaching certificate, there are always exceptions though so try anyway. My degree is in education so obviously I did not need a separate teaching certificate.
What subject area is your degree in and which age group in K12 do you wish to teach specifically?

Thank you, Keitepai,
My degree is in design. I am discovering some private k12's that will hire based on my qualifications.
This would be my first year teaching so, I am open to trying any age. My concern is to secure a position with a reputable school which will honour their contractual agreements. I have read from too many dissapointed teachers who had to border run every three months to refresh Visa. |

I feel it would be possible to find work in a number of private locations esp in Izmir.
Generally state schools and unis do not hire foreign staff and the pay is pretty low.
I know of at least one k12 school looking for fresh blood, sorry teachers. |

| Basically the rule is "if you can teach , in your own native country with the qualifications you have, then you can teach in Turkey" |
