|
|
I know that recently there has been somewhat of a crackdown on dogs as Haram but I'm not going there without my dog. I have seen that there are a few compounds that allow pets so once i get moved into my permanent arrangement everything will be fine. But until I get my Iqama I will be at a temporary place that doesn't allow pets. Any ideas on where to board a dog? |

My feeling is that if bringing the dog is a priority - you would be better not to come. |

There is an over-supply of cats in Saudi Arabia. If you want some I can get you a good deal. |

No, I seriously want to know how difficult it is to bring a cat into the Kingdom these days. |

Did you try a search? If I recall, it was discussed not that long ago... I think it was on the Saudi board...

Sheikh, if I'm not mistaken, you once brought a cat into Malaysia in an interesting way, did you not? Correct me if I've got the wrong person!
I've known several people to bring cats into the EP through Bahrain with relative ease in the past couple of years. As long as you've got the correct paperwork done before you leave, it seems to be no problem. What is a problem is finding a working vet to take care of them once they're here.

Airhorn, I am so sorry to tell you, but I agree with this. I am glad to see that you love your pet so deeply, but if you really love him, you probably shouldn't come here. These people really HATE dogs for the most part, and I think you will have a great deal of trouble getting your pet into KSA and keeping him here. Best of luck to you. |

Airhorn. Please. If you really love your dog think of what is being discussed here about them. Not only will the dog be despised and possibly mistreated you may also receive some pretentious psyche.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. After reading your comments and doing some research on my own I agree with what you are saying. So, I laid a big time guilt trip on a family member who will take my dog for as long as I am in KSA. I had no idea that dogs were viewed so negatively there. |

Dear AirHorn,
I had a dog, a Shih Tzu in Jeddah for two years, from 1980 - 1982. Although I loved having him there, you're making the right decision.
The Kingdom is not a place for canine pets, even today.
Regards,
John |

You are right, Mia. Malaysia required several months of quarantine, and I would not abuse my cat by having him in a cage for that long. He could barely survive it for one night. So I flew him to Bangkok, then down to some southern town, and paid off a border guard because he ws the brother of a friend, my realtor in KL. It was worth the hassle. I took the cat with me to Japan next, via 5 months in the U.S. Poor little guy. |

İ had a dog when İ lıved in Saudia City in Khaledeya Jeddah (Compound for Aırlıne employees)
We had conflicts with some residents as a result - and that was cosmopoltan and western compound. |

Is Khaledeya an area of Jeddah...quite likely, this reference caught my eye, as I lived ON the Khalediya COMPOUND just down from the Saudi-German Hospital...which is a MOD EDIT compound.

Quite sprawling, I remember coming down from Taif so our kids could play Little League on the ball field.
