Like naturegirl, I also planned to and also didn't get past my second country as I fell in love with the country, culture, language, etc. I have been in Finland now for 10 years and travel during holidays... |

Been avoidin' the US taxman for 19 years now. Don't agree much with the politics and would rather not help subsidize wars that I disagree with. Travelin'? Not so much anymore since the youngin' came along...
But boy, there for a while, the missus and I had ourselves a ball being dere and doing dat!

I was already traveling, as a jobbing actor, street performer, extremely crappy musician etc.
Turned to EFL when I tired of the instability.
There's been a fair amount of travel in EFL for me, though less than previously.
How much of your life teaching becomes depends on you- I like it enough to want to do it well, and to progress in my career. That means spending a little longer in places, pursuing training, taking on additional responsibilities, and studying.
But I know a guy with a CELTA who's been 12-18 months in more countries than I can count- he's a decent teacher, but won't ever go past entry level, as he isn't interested in further training and doesn't stick around long enough to get promoted. Sure has seen a thing or two, though.
Best,
Justin |
