|
|
Hi everyone,
My name is Joe, and I am taking a Trinity Cert with Oxford TEFL in May. I am getting very excited about the course, but I had a few questions I wanted answered before I leave. I know that it is hard for Non-EU Passport holders to get jobs in Europe, but I was wondering where the best places in the world were for Americans to work (i.e.- easier visa processes). Any advice would be great. I have been lurking these forums for a year or so now and they were a huge influence in me choosing a Trinity Cert over anything else.
Thanks,
Joe |

What kind of degree do you have?
What sort of teaching interests you? Doesn't interest you? |

The only region that is generally off-limits, as you're already aware, is Europe. Once you rule that out ( ), it depends on your qualifications, as Glenski mentioned, and then simply on where you want to go.

that's for sure. Europe might be open to you, the new EU and the non-EU countries in the east, like Russia. |

Try Amideast as a starter. They are American friendly.

Are you interested in teaching adults or children? If the latter, then have you considered adding an elementary, K-12 or secondary education teaching certification to your degree? |

I've heard of this, but when you go to the site, all the jobs they have listed are in the US.. Where are the overseas jobs? |

They are very welcome here. |

I know it's in the EU, but I think you'll find that quite a lot of Polish schools prefer North Americans (erm, should that be north Americans?). Russian schools vary, as some of them think that it's a great tradition to speak with a Home Counties (southern English) accent and get shirty about northern English, Yankees, etc etc. |
