hello everyone,

i guess i am complete newb to Japan:

anybody have info on town of Ami or Ibaraki-ken in general?

i am getting placed there by my school and I am assuming its a fairly small town since Googling it turned up not much info.

i have experience living in small towns in China, South Korea, and Thailand, but i always found the defeat potential boredom is to have info about the town or surrounding larger areas beforehand.

for example: how far is Ami or even Ibaraki-ken from Tokyo the city?

thanks in advance!

Smile

Not sure if you already found this page, but here's some info:
http://www.town.ami.ibaraki.jp/language/english.htm

I did a quick search; from Arakawaoki station (荒川沖) in/near Ami, you can get to Tokyo in 1 hour (950yen) -- specifically Ueno station (上野), where you can transfer to the main Yamanote loop and get to pretty much all the major areas in Tokyo.
