I broke my contract and my FEC was cancelled. I returned to my home country. Can I return to China with a new Z-Visa and get work in another province or am I banned from working in China again?

I have received confusing and conflicting information regarding this question. So I would like to take a poll. Please, only those who are confident of their position should vote.

You should leave us the option to answer 'Don't know'.

Clearly you have a more authoritative avenue to go and ask your question - the various provinces themselves.

I thought about adding the option "Don't Know", but that is something that I would expect anyway, given the confusion surrounding this topic. So I wanted people who have experience to take an educated guess, either yes or no.

It is not "I don't know" It's "It depends"

What were the circumstances? Overall you can. I know of situations. But if you did somenting suficiently horrendus, it is possible you won't be able to.

Not true. I know 2 or 3 people who did almost the exact same thing as the OP and are back in the exact same city.

I voted 'yes' but it all depends on how influencial your former school is.

There is a nation wide 'blacklist'. I know of several people who can never work in China again.

blacklist?

the concept is one that i have heard of, but it is a difficult thing to manage what with personal opinion being the basis for the 'blacklist'.

you never truly know who was the evil one in the situation and I do have a difficult time seeing President Hu attempting to justify this to the free world.

If anyone should have been blacklisted it would have been me. Several times. I got screwed at so many places and had to do what i had to do to survive.

Got visas from the same officials in the same city less than 30days after a 'runner' had to be done too.

Not an ounce of guanxi used either. Bad employers are bad employers. They know this. China is trying to clean it up.

Update:

I got my Invitation letter, work permit and Z-Visa. Now it's time to head back to China!!!

The school assures me I can get the Residence permit and the FEC. They don't seem too worried that I don't have a Release Letter from my previous employer in another province. I was honest and up front about the situation. They said "no problem."

I will update latter after I arrive and hopefully get the other documents.

If you have your invitation letter, u r golden. it's the letter that says you will be allowed to work here by th same office that issues the FEC. And the PSB couldn't care less about your former school when they issue your RP

mark up another one for the myth of guanxi and the myth of the blacklist
