I'm trying to find a "good" job and get my Z visa ASAP. I'm in Canada so I will just get it here. Typically how long should I expect to wait? based on say if I found a job today and they want to get the ball rolling right away.

Well the first thing you have to do is wait for your prospective, new employer to send you the official letter of invitation. You should also find out whether the embassy/consulate you plan on going to will require you submit the results of a physical examination.

Letter of invitation = 2-3 days if they send EMS
Physical Exam (if required) = 1 week or so

Visa is a business week in itself, or you can pay for expedited service.

Thus, it varies as above

Hmm really? I just applied for a position that doesn't begin until July but they made it sound like they had to hire someone right away because the visa process was lengthy. Thanks for the info.

A solid legitimate job will go through the process and yes it'll take about a month before you've got things in hand. The employer has to physically go to the necessary government offices with your paperwork to get this and that, so if they are a 6 hour train ride from the office they may not go immediately

4-6 weeks is a reasonable assumption considering the need to snail mail things here or there and such.

Ultimately, the best advice - just sit and wait. If you're in some desperate need to fly-on-over then you've got other issues Laughing But a July job shows that you're not one of "them."

Well, technically I am one of "them" haha, I have a very impatient gf there so I'm trying to get there ASAP as well as find a good position. Not an easy task.
