I'm curious as to whether anyone has had any problems getting into Costa Rica without return plane tickets. I read somewhere that if you can't prove you are leaving after three months, they either won't give you a tourist visa, or make you buy a bus ticket to Nicaragua. I have traveled many times to Costa Rica, Argentina, Peru and Ecuador and have never been asked to see a return plane ticket.
Does anybody have an experience to share?
Thanks! |

In the airport it's definitively safest to have a ticket out of Costa Rica. I don't think the date matters a lot. On the land borders it's not so important though. |

I have never been asked for a return ticket when coming into Costa rica. Although the last border run at Sixola they asked to see a ticket out of Costa Rica or an itenerary which you can simply download from the inet without buying a ticket. |
