Hello,
I just wondered where people get their post delivered to in KSA. I have a postal box but 2 regsistered letters that were sent there didn't arrive (both were returned to the country of origin).
As for the university, it takes so long for internal mail to reach us from the mens' section that we have to send a driver over to get it in person.
Where do people get amazon books etc, delivered to?
Thanks. |

The mail system here is not that good. Unfortunately, you have to deal with it.
To see the real human development of a country, one only needs to look at the postal system and public toilets. |

Dear trapezius,
"To see the real human development of a country, one only needs to look at the postal system and public toilets."
Are the latter locations where the mail often ends up?
Regards,
John |

How would you rate countries with few to no public toilets? I think most North American cities would essentially into such a category! |

Post reaches us at KFUPM with few delays. No problem getting books from Amazon (if only the Sri Lankan office was as streamlined).
If you're having problems with your place of work go along to the Post Office and get a PO Box in your name. |

I have a P.O.Box, but I try to have my letters delivered to me by recorded mail as the normal postal service is quite unreliable
Check Saudi Post. They have a lot of services, paid and free.

Spiral, your rebuttal is not well thought out. There are public restrooms along the interstate expressways, and they are first-rate, unlike say, the ones in Europe, let alone Arabia. And every public building has public restrooms, and they are cleaner than anywhere else. |

Well... sometimes the public toilets here are not obvious. You do rather need to know the system to know where to find them. The best trick is to just head for the nearest fast food restaurant.

Yes. And then apply for a job flipping burgers, unless you're in public education or health care! |

I have found the postal service here to be reasonably efficient, though far from perfect. In the several years I've been here, I have lost 2 or 3 things in the (international) post but other than that have found it to be relatively fast and reliable.
A few people get their own PO box (at a price, I'm told of about 100SR a year) but most people have mail - including parcels - send to their place of employment. This system usually works out adequately well. |

I have had no problems with post and regularly receive parcels with books, CD's and DVD's. My employer provides each employee with his own PO Box and we can also receive through that FedEx, DHL etc.
If you are having problems go to the PO and rent a Box. 300 SR a year. |

Actually it's the saudi post box that I've had problems with. Maybe it's because my husband negotiated the price down to 100SR for 2 boxes. I think I'll just try getting them sent to the ELC director in the men's section.
Thanks |
