Plenty of posts on Shane. Have you done a search? Use Shane or Saxoncourt as keywords.

Lots of negative comments here and on other sites. Many get deleted due to concerns about advertising, so you may want to send a PM to people who have posted previously.

In short, they aren't too bad overall. Not the best eikaiwa, not the worst. Probably in the middle of the pack somewhere.

Pros:
-holiday schedule is good
-actual work is fairly easy
-they stick to the contract

Cons:
-more expensive housing than some competitors
-they do the same "we'll call you full-time, but you're actually part-time" scam that many other eikaiwa pull
-you'll have to work a 6-day week about once a month for no extra pay

I'm sure this thread will be deleted soon, because I listed some "cons" of a company that advertises here. At least, I think they advertise here.

Do a search for my posts with containing the word "Shane" and you will find comments about my experience of working there - positive on the whole. I'm not typing it all again, but here is a link to one such thread.

Maybe Kerryn is posting from his/her cell phone.

Trying to figure out what a "jol" is- new internet slang I haven't come across before?

They are a middle of the road company, atypical of many eikaiwas but not so big so can still get a bit personal and therefore have a generally good time.

If you're looking for part-time, they pay Y2,500 per 1 hour lesson. It's not great. They then say that they will give you another Y500 per hour you taught as a "bonus".

part-timers sign a 6 month contract. If you break that contract, you don't see the Y500 per 1 hour lesson you taught as a bonus.

The schools don't generally look as modern as Berlitz, ELS or ECC. When I went in to a few, they looked pretty run down.

But work is hard to get right now for a lot of people, so if you can get a few hours a night and a weekend block of classes, many people are taking it.

Still better than Gaba's rates. Smile
