Hi,

I am just excited and wanted to share. I just got offered a job with KNS and will be coming to Taiwan in April. I know there have been a lot of posts on here about if someone can find work etc. and I just wanted to add my two cents.

I only applied to one school. KNS and I got hired. Granted, I do have teaching experience in Korea, but still it is not impossible to find work here. The key is, first to not just send out mass generic e-mails. I researched the school before I applied and wrote my cover letter to what they were looking for in a teacher. When they e-mailed me that they had gotten my resume, I e-mailed right back, saying I was looking forward to interviewing. I prepared for my interview and sent a follow up thank you e-mail. When they e-mailed to let me know that they would get back to me soon with a decision I followed up on that e-mail. It is about being persistent, confident, and showing that you have a personal interest in the school. I also let them know during the interview that I had researched the school and had heard positive things about the school and desired to work there.

My husband has also found a job in Taiwan, but he has a teaching credential, so it was not too hard for him.

Anyway, I am on my way and super excited!!

KNS is a smaller school, with 6 branches located in Kaohsiung. It is a smaller, family run operation and employs about 50 or so teachers across its 6 branches.

OP - do you mind telling more about your contract? That is a school I have researched also.

Thanks.

I was looking into that school as well. I'm not 100% commited to going to Taiwan as of yet though. Can you perhaps elaborate on what your research turned up? I know I can do it myself, but if you have time you can save me the trouble, as well as elaborate how you have found dealing with them thus far.

BTW, did you apply from Korea, or did you arrive in Taiwan and then contact them?

This name I don't know. But this I do. Let me see.

He/she, applied from Korea. He/she's, very happy about their acceptance/employ. He/she, doesnt' yet know the legal obligations regarding living/working here, or in other words, AN ARC.

So he/she, stands with his/her face like flint, just like a newbie would here, unawares, unfamiliar, some sheep with shoddy shoes from a far off land?

Come on, man! I smell a rat. Not to mention, KNS could also be interpreted as Kojen School(KNS.)

Well if YOU don't know the name it mustn't be a legit school. Right?

I didn't see anywhere mentioned in the OP's post that they didnt know legal obligations about living here, or anything to do with an ARC.

That being said, KNS helps you by picking you up at the airport, getting you temporary lodging with co-workers, they help you find an apartment, help you find a scooter, help you with your health check, and walk you through all the paperwork to get your work permit and ARC.

She didn't seem unaware, but rather happy that she was able to find a job that she is going to be happy with.

Well if you interpret KNS as Kojen School then you are clearly not too good at interpreting the meaning of initials. KNS actually stands for Kevin N' Sofias which happens to be the name of the two owners of the the school.
