EXPO.
I swear by these markers.
Black EXPO!!!!!
They never run out.
I don't know about other colors.

My EXPO board came with two chisel (fat markers)
and they died in March. (I got the board in November)

I used that darned black Expo marker for test prep and drawings and mind maps and ... all the time. It never gave out.

I use the fine points now. You can get 12 fine points for $15 at Office Depot.
I usually have about 3 out at a time, I teach 6 classes a day from 8-2 so I use one for a class and then rotate.

The Expo markers available in Mexico do not last as long as the ones you can get here in the US. Plus I think some of the cleaning fluids used on the boards coat the markers and ruins them after a day or two. The best cleaning fluid is the household spray cleaner Formula 409. I could never find 409 in Morelia, but baby wipes or rubbing alcohol both work good too.

Phil, I did find one kind of marker (sorry I cannot remember the brand) either at Office Depot or at Office Max that was fat, fatter than an Expo, and that came in red and black that had a liquid ink you could see in the clear part of the marker. Apparently you could buy the ink and refill it, but I never tried that because I left Mexico before it ran out. I was careful to store them so the ink was soaking the tip and they couldn't dry out. They lasted the best of anything I found including the Expo.

Yeah, those metal ones are better than the plastic, but hard to find.

If the marker has an angular tip, write with the thinnest point end only instead of writing chunky - this makes them last longer. Is it me or do black markers last longer than any other colour? Except maybe green but then that's because no one uses them.

The metal markers are probably the best. Office Depot has some but they don't seem to last very long..not sure why.

Switch to boards you can use blood, sweat and tears on. You'll have an unending supply.

I went to a papeleria expo yesterday, and am now armed with some new marker technology to test. I've got some of the markers that are marketed to paint on cars, store windows, etc, that are basically paint pens filled with liquid chalk. It's possible that you need a damp rag to erase them, but they say they should last much longer than normal dry erase markers without staining. Will report back...
