20 hours per week (but may go up to 25) but at three different schools per day
3 weeks winter and 2.5 weeks summer vacation. camps both seasons.
16,000 RMB to 24,000 RMB annual bonus based upon performance
16,000 RMB (14,000 RMB) after taxes per month salary.
R/T airfair. housing comped.
way out in the countryside. no health insurance.
decisions, decisions, decisions...nice pay but absolute backwater. |

| Does "camps both seasons" mean you work those "vacations" which are then not vacations for you, or does it mean you work at camps in addition to have the three/two weeks vacations? |

| work camps in addition to the vacations. so that the aprox. three month school winter vacation is but 3 weeks for the teacher. |

I wonder if they provide transportation between the 3 different schools via a school bus or at least reimburse you for the taxi?
Other than that, it seems like a good way to save money, but, I wonder why they pay so much?
You might consider visiting the city/schools before deciding. |

I spent 18 months in the type of place many would probably avoid, but backwater schools offer lots of benefits too. I wouldnt be so keen if I was the only FT, but generally ex pat communities are something I would prefer to avoid anyway. I dont really care for pizza hut / KFC / Tesco and Carrefour either really.
What age are the students? KG and primary schools wouldnt hold much appeal to me in this situation....but with older students you can take part in sports activities with them (assuming you like sports of course), and college/uni or adult students can also form part of a social circle if thats your bag too.
The package looks good, if you can live without the expat things (many of which aint so good anyway) this might be a great job |

Wow, this seems like a deal too good to be true. 16 bones a month in the countryside? If I were you, I'd be damned dubious, but given the terms, I'd investigate fully before (likely) storming off with disgust and contempt. |

it depends, i would bet it's kindergartens and taking 25 periods a week at up to 3 different places a day will be a lot more tiring than just going in and teaching 5 lessons a day at 1 school, add to the fact that this kind of thing is technically illegal (not that it really maters if the school has connections).
so i would find out, can they get you a Z-visa/RP? will they really pay you(ask to talk to previous FTs)? What kind of students are you teaching? and ask your self if you can handle teaching in the countryside. |

it is an interesting offer. the 3 sites are middle school, high school and a factory. the factory is paying the money for the schools.
the bonus is peculiar (in a perfectly neutral sense): five bonus levels based upon evaluations from 1) factory class members, 2) middle/high school admin and 3) factory training supervisor after looking at the "usual" things that teachers get evaluated for.
the scariest thing is it is all so fluid at this point as to be formless. |

I'd be curious if the person responsible for paying the bonus is also the one administering the teacher evaluations. Seems to be a lot of room there for some mischief in order to save some cash. Someone who's worked there before could clear that up maybe. |
