|

My wife and I actually taught overseas in Taiwan before. We have a 1 year old daughter now and we would like to go back to teach. We had an overall good experience in Taiwan, but because we didn't have children at the time, I paid no attention to how life would be different with a child.
My question is, with both of us wanting to teach, would we be able to find an au pair, or reliable childcare in many countries? If so, which country would be best? Have you had any experiences with this? Thanks for the advice!

BTW, my wife has a MA in Education, US certified and 6 year experience teaching ESL/English to K-8. I have a BA in English, no certification, and 4 years teaching experience with k-8, adults and TOEFL preparations.

INtl schools, try www.ibo.org or www.tes.co.uk AS for child care, first world countries are expensive, third world countries are cheap Peru for example would pay a teacha bout 3K a nanny, live in 6 days a week is about 200 usd for her salary.
Bad news, your wife can work at intl schools, you can't. Unless you get certified. YOu might want to look into doing it. It'll probably take about a year. |

naturegirl. thanks for the response and the links. however, i have taught overseas before without a teaching certification and I am quite confident I can do it again. If you mean nationally sanctioned "international schools", yeah, I know that those require certification. However, many other places only require BA and experience, which I have lots of. Thanks again, though. |
