Hello, and I have questions about what experiences people have had with different job placement agencies. I have a Master's in TESL and a couple years teaching experience, and I 'd like to secure a good job with a reputable school overseas (I'm from the US). I'm pretty open as far as places I'd consider moving to. I've heard about a couple of placement agencies, and am wondering if they're successful/ligit.
Has anyone heard about or worked with Search Associates or ISS? My understanding is that both of these do charge a placement fee, which does make me a little nervous. I already have an application in to CIS, which does not charge a fee.
Please let me know if you've had success or bad experiences with these companies and if you know anything about the quality of jobs that they offer. Thanks! |

Search Associates and ISS aren't placement agencies per se, they're for intl job fairs. tey're legit. YOu pay, fill out lots of forms, send paperwork, then go to job fairs, where there are probably around 50 schools, have interviews and will probably get several job offers.
Good news is that it's with intl schools, so high pay. Bad news is that sometime's it's high stress too. Negotiate if you can. COmpetition is high though.
YOu could also try www.tes.co.uk, apply for intl schools jobs there for free. |

Thanks for the info, naturegirl. I've looked into TES since you mentioned it, so hopefully that will turn something out. It's good to know that ISS and the other are ligit- but it does seem like alot of money to pay for their services just to have to go to a job fair and fight it out anyways:)
I guess if the jobs are that good it may be worth it. I'll have to weigh it out. Do you know if most people successfully find jobs through them? |

I'm pretty sure you'll get job offers, buyt if CIS is free, go with that. YOu'll get offers, just maybe not in the country of your choice. Remember the employers are there to fill jobs.
Plus they usually advertise at the job fairs before they advertise on TES |
