Moving to Thailand next month to teach. My job provides basic medical insurance (3,000 bht max).
I want to top this up so if I get run over by a bus I can get my broken limbs fixed!
Does anyone have any advice on how to go about this, and recommendations for medical insurance providers? |

Check out the following thread: http://forums.eslcafe.com/job/viewtopic.php?t=70015 . In particular, take note of Lensman's suggestion of obtaining a "platinum" credit card. Although he was referring to a particular credit card issued by an Australian bank, it is possible that US/UK/Canadian banks might also provide similar health insurance benefits to holders of their top-range credit cards - it'll be worth checking out.
Also, I believe that YHA (Youth Hostels Association) have arrangements with some insurance companies in which members are entitled to discounts ( 10% ? 15% ?). Maybe, there could be other organisations (eg trade unions, professional associations, etc) that also provide similar benefits for their members.
