But that is probably just for the PNET scheme, not for the SNET variant. |
Highly unlikely. EdB can hardly have one rule for assessing PNET salaries and another for SNETs. |

I didn't suggest that they did. Rather, what I said is that for the PNET/PNUT scheme they may well count post-degree experience as far as placement on the pay scale goes, even if the degree does not give the candidate QTS (i.e., if it is not a BEd, or some such similar qualification), but that they most likely will not for the SNET scheme. This is for the simple reason that they do not seem to demand QTS for the PNET/PNUT scheme anymore, just a degree. For the SNET scheme however it seems they do indeed still demand QTS, and only seem to count post-QTS experience when it comes to determining salary.
Besides, why couldn't they enforce two separate conditions on two separate schemes? After all, they have different eligibility conditions for the two, so why would this be any different?
Also, this is an inherently illogical and perverted system in the first place. Look for example how the government/the EDB award more Form 6 places to boys than girls! The reason they give is that boys mature later than girls and so face a disadvantage! After learning that I simply ceased to be amazed or disturbed by anything in the 'educational' system of HK. Look also at how local primary and local secondary school teachers are made to take the same language proficiency test! Bizarre! |

The person I mentioned earlier has been accepted on the secondary net scheme. They have been working in a secondary school for a number of years and then decided to move to the SNET scheme. The salary point was certainly not determined by post PGDE experience. It was determined by total years teaching experience, which all came post degree. |
