I spoke with a potential employer yesterday. Actually and American man that recently opened a school in China . He said that employers in Beijing are leary to hire foreigners that just have B.A. That at the minimum 2 years experience and a TEFL is also required. I have not run into this problem in my applications yet. Anyone new to Beijing have any advice?

Thanks

This has long been discussed. Beijing requires two years experience.

how is this a Z Visa concern?

there are tonnes of foreigners in beijing. there is a lot of money to be made in beijing. many people want to be in beijing for the convenience of it all (western comforts, easy flights in & out) & that money. employers in beijing can be pickier than those in, say, anhui. you can definitely still get a job in beijing--it just might not be of the level you could get in less popular areas.

I have a friend who has been losing out at every interview because, although she is otherwise well qualified, she only has 6 months experience. SHE IS VERY SORRY that she ever went to the Chinese Big Apple to look for work.

Yeah, I have about a year and a half. I'm still hoping for a job in Beijing but am looking in Qingdao and Dalian as well.
