Does anyone have experience working in Taipei and/or Kaohsiung?? I saw pictures and got some great feedback on Kaoisiung. I also read some comments about Hess and the chinese teachers being harsh with the English teachers. I am interviewing with Hess in July, already got into Reach to Teach but I thought Hess seemed more promising with pay and hours. Can anyone elaborate on the treatment issues of the teachers through Hess?? Just a bit of concern, Thanks |

Do your homework. All of your questions can be answered by reading posts. If you do a search for HESS you will find endless posts about the good and bad of HESS.
The same goes for ling in Taipei and Kaohsiung. I consider myself quite knowledgeable about Kaohsiung, as I'm one of the few long time posters on here that have taught and lived there.
After you do some reading if you have some more specific questions bring them back to us. |

definitely stay away from Kaohsiung! Its one of the most disgusting places in Taiwan. Its got the worst air and there are frequent earthquakes. Others might disagree but I'd hate to be stuck there for a year wishing I was in Taipei. There is, however, a new subway line thats way convenient and pretty much unused! (but yeah it sucks, go to Taipei) |

Yea, I was actually planning on Taipei for sure. I just wanted to hear some feedback on Kaohsiung first. I saw pictures and it looks relatively nice but Taipei seems more busier and rich in things to see and do. I did hear the weather in Kaohsiung was better than in Taipei though. Thanks for the feedback! |
