I have just accepted a job. I will be making 26 -30,000. I plan on getting a flat share for 7500 or less. How much are gym memberhips? Can I afford one? It is important to me, and I do cook most of my own food to avoid always eating out. What are the gyms or fitness centers like?

I can't tell you much about current prices, but gyms and fitness centres are top-notch - and very good for your Czech:)

Yes, MOST gyms are top-notch and they ARE very good for your Czech Smile

I'm a swimmer and walker/rambler myself but I did go through a gym phase a few years back and I visited the gym at the Olsanka Hotel:
http://www.hotelolsanka.cz/
Membership then was approx 70 CZK per hour and with a Trainer (there were about 10 of us in the gym working out at any one given time).
This was 2 years ago.
I chose this gym because they have a Swedish sauna upstairs with outside ice pool.

If you take your gym time seriously though then you might want to look at one of the many other options located in the city such as:
http://www.cybex-fitness.cz
http://www.worldclass.cz/
http://holmesplace.cz/

I've heard that some gyms are really just places for girls and guys to show off their bods and others are serious work out places.

Fees will tend to vary depending on which gym you apply for membership to and there is also no harm in asking if there are any seasonal discounts available.

Hope it helps!

Thanks. This really helps. I have been checking the expat site, but I have been having trouble locating info on this. I do take my gym time seriously. I do mostly weight training, and I don't need a trainer. With all the new things I will be enjoying there, I don't want to let my body go to waste. Thanks again, guys, this was very helpful.
