Hi, I've been writing in the Newbie Forum for the past week or so, and looking at different certification courses to take. I just seen the advertisement for this school at the bottom of this very page, and the fact that they have a school in Peru is what attracted me to them. I have a friend who is from Peru and Peru is one of the main countries I would like to work in, since I got really interested in English Teaching a couple of months ago.
So I'm just writing to see if anyone has had any experience with this school run by EBC in Cusco, Peru? and just what your thoughts are in general about the school?
Here's their main website: http://tefl-course-peru.com/ |

thanks, I think I'll be taking it this summer, June 29 to July 24. So if I was able to get my certificate by July, do you think I could find somewhere to get hired by the fall? When are most contracts signed? Hows the market down in Peru? I was also interested in maybe teaching in Argentina. Do you know how things are in Argentine? |

Yep, no probs for Peru, just knock on doors. YOu'll probbaly make about 5 bucks an hour, which is 500 to 800 usd a month.
Sorry, don't know about Argentina.
As for Peru, you'll be fine. You'll work a lot. But you'll get by. |

The website looks good, though I'm wary of the 100% job placement rate. Are these teaching jobs, full time jobs, etc?
Plus, they don't say anyting about visas, probably because in Peru, the only place that WILL get you a visa, that's a language school, is Britanico in LIma and you have to get offered the job outside of Peru.
The 150 hours in 20 days, meaning 7.5 hours a day, plus 24 hours of practice teahcing is a lot. Think of finishing late at night, studying on the weekends, but it's only a month and you'll get through it. |
