Wow- can you make anagrams out of my name?
(I also use Dave's because I frequently find stuff here that makes me laugh. And sometimes you just need that.)
Best,

I've received help here and made contacts and I like to reciprocate on the basis that it helps the world go round. I don't have any English teaching friends so it helps keep me in touch with developments, and it's a useful exposure to world Englishes, given wot 'uver people don't talk English proper like.
BTW, I believe Johnslat shares his surname with a former Irish rugby international .... |

| Well, I made an account to push me towards the right direction in my career aspiration of being an ESL teacher. I don't post too often, but I often lurk -- every day. Yikes ! |

My name is Bob and I am an Internetaholic, I'd like to pretend that as a teacher it is something within me that makes me want to smooth the way for others and impart the wisdom I have acquired through life, from the people around me, fellow teachers, my students and from other posters. But, it would be a lie. I am an Internetaholic.

Dear BobbyBan,
Well, they're not mutually exclusive, I'd say. Why can't both be reasons?
Regards,
John |

I find the site interesting. I think it's pretty obvious from my posts that I don't work in the industry. Personally I can't wait to get out of the states so I think that's a big reason I come here.
As for my name... I've been posting on the internet for almost 15 years and have never used my name as my screen name. To me screen names are meant to be indicative of something. In my case it expresses my general malaise with life and it also tells you where I am from. That said if anyone wants my real name all they have to do is send me a tell and ask me. It isn't really hard to do......
As for fear of stalkers... I seriously doubt that anyone is going to stalk a big guy from Florida whose hobbies include video games and tactical shooting competitions. It would be freaking awesome though if some hot young ESL chic started stalking me...... |

This is the only forum I post on.
I like to help others and enjoy the help I receive here.
When I come here I expect to get valid information from those who reply. There is an air of truthfulness on this board; unfortunately this honesty can sometimes cause chagrin.

Dear Mexicobound,

And sometimes it can cause just a regular grin.

John,
So true.
I usually get a smile out of your posts.
I still haven't seen the new "Trek"; don't get mad...but I am thinking about bootlegging it off of a bit torrent site.
(The closest movie theater is 80 miles from me) That is 160 miles round trip. Yes, I live in the middle of nowhere.
I have the right equipment: 40 LCD flatscreen TV, digital sound card with 5.1 surround sound speakers; but that is not the same as the "theater experience."
Take care. |
