Believe me I've tried email. I've emailed every person in that office dozens of times and they simply ignore me and when confronted on the phone swear they never got them. The emails are not being returned with a "can't deliver" message so I'm relatively certain they are getting through. I'm sure they are choosing to ignore them for the very reason you mentioned. They don't want to put anything in writing and want to be able to say they somehow weren't aware of the situation. I'm telling you, these folks are NOT stupid. They are just hoping I'll go away and after 4 months I still haven't. An ally from this board sent an email attempting to gently nudge the FAO director to do the right thing and CC'd it to several prominent folks, including the uni's president and some SAFEA officials. The FAO director acknowledged receiving the email (which is quite fishy because it was sent to the very same address where I always send emails and he says he doesn't get) and he suddenly has become more receptive. He asked me to fax him a letter saying it is OK to deposit funds in my bank account, which I did, today. Now I need to wait and check my account periodically. This mess might be close to being cleaned up.

Ah, I see your point re emailing. At least they're replying to your text messages and the FAO seems to be making the right noises. Hopefully it'll be sorted out soon.

Dakelei,

You haven't posted here for some time. Are you ok?

I hope your university hasn't tried to force you to shut up. I am sure other posters here must be wondering, too. Do clear the air!

Mixed bag but the news is basically good. The school finally sent me money
but only about a third of what I believe I'm actually owed. It'll do.

Thanks to "Raindrops" for pushing things along.

At this point I'm torn about whether going public with the school's name would be the right thing to do or not. I'm still a tad fearful it might come back to bite me in the rear.
