I can chime in a little on the questions specifically geared at AZ.
One thing that you might want to explore is working in some of the charter schools around here; I just got interviewed by one and they basically told me that certification is secondary to their goal of finding the "best" person for the job.
If you are looking for public school certification, there is a really extensive network of community colleges around here and they are way cheaper than ASU, NAU, UofA, etc. There are some institutes and such that would probably hire with a BA (see my pm), as well as quite a few tutoring centers/agencies that claim to pay between $20-30/hr for part-time work.
If you do get enrolled at ASU, I could probably help you out in getting a little part-time job working for the school as well; doesn't pay a lot, but it's really fun (ask me in a pm if you're interested).
Any way you look at it, though, you're going to need to have either a lot of $ in savings or something ready to go before you get here (which would be extremely hard).
Hope this helps. |
