Apply directly to Cognition (if you're from the UK, N.Z. or Australia), GEMS SIP, Mosaica, Nord Anglia, SSAT for teaching positions that you very definitely do have the qualifications for. Give CfBT, Madares al Ghad and SABIS a wide berth even though you do have the qualifications to work for them. And try the English Speaking Schools as previously suggested. You do not need a Masters to work in the schools in the UAE - most people who work in them here aren't even accredited teachers. You need to apply to Teach Away for a position with ADEC and TeachAnywhere will get you employed with CfBT as they're the major recruiter for them and if you read these forums, you'll see that CfBT is not a reputable employer. The money in the local schools is not as good as it is in the national schools, but then they are very, very different posts.

Someone did post a list of international schools here recently: search and keep searching. In Al Ain for example I know people who are satisfied with their lot at Al Ain English Speaking School, the Manor House School, and Al Dhafra. There may be other happy teachers in international schools here but I don't know everyone. At this stage in the year you may be best off applying direct; you have missed the big international school recruitment fairs. There are plenty of schools which recruit people like yourself in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, the trick is to find the ones with a liveable package and a job up for grabs.

You could try CERT, i know you looked, but do not go to the CERT website. The application for English teachers is through the HCT employment site. I think it says 'English positions CERT'.

I would apply to Madres Al Ghad - I know of many successful cases where the schools are being successful and people are happy in what they do. Unfortunately, there have been mistakes and in some cases some aweful decisions made in terms of hiring and firing but then this is happening everywhere at the moment.

I work for Madares Al Ghad and I wouldn't suggest applying. They are still making quite awful decisions when it comes to hiring and firing. Pay is also much lower. May as well work for ADEC. You would still be in National schools without someone from Dubai playing at expert. Pay is considerable higher and your job will be safer

Also MBea is elementary and its been talked about on this forum before how difficult the elementary APC can be.

Be aware that MAG has just found out that they will have cycle 1 and 2 in Abu Dhabi but not cycle three, for another year. At the beginning of the year they sacked their people in Abu Dhabi and now will be looking for more staff but these positions won't be permanent.

I applied for this job, but it says you MUST interview in person, however I am in Korea and can't make any of the interviews, unless I fly to Abu Dhabi directly when I am done here in 6 weeks..... I'm hoping an online skype interview will be enough.

Ah... that's a catch. How about a quick flight to Vancouver? Or LA? But, if that isn't in the budget, there are lots of other ideas here for you to chase up. Good Luck!!

I'm pretty sure Al Dhafra, Al Ain English Speaking School and Emirates National are all looking for an English teacher or two in Al Ain. I know they don't pay what ADEC pays though.

When I was looking for a job, I googled "international schools UAE" or something like that and a bunch of sites with lists of schools came up. I searched for those schools and carpet bombed my CV all over the UAE. I ended up with a good number of offers, even though I was under qualified at the time. The ministry of Education is forcing stricter regulations on who can be hired in a school, so any school with an opening still is getting pretty desperate for someone with a B Ed.

OK I'm trying to apply with GEMS directly. However I cannot upload my CV. They say it is supposed to be in DOC or TXT format and I have tried both formats but it still won't upload. Has anyone else had this problem?

By having the relevant Master's in one's own discipline in demand at one of the tertiary institutions.
