Yes... the mind boggles Mr Pik... Laughing

But beyond all this silliness, can anyone give this fellow an answer?

If anyone can give me an idea of "reasonable" salary and benefit expectation your help would be much appreciated.

I can only tell him to expect furnished housing or an allowance, plus tickets for himself and dependents, medical, gratuity... the usual.

Am I reading this right? You have no classroom experience, only private lessons/tutoring? I would finish my MA before heading to the Gulf... there is no consideration of degrees in progress... and add some classroom teaching to your experience (if I am reading this right)

Someone else will have to talk about salaries in KSA at your level.

With a BA and no standard overseas teaching experience, I'd say that the VERY top salary one would be likely to get would be around $2,500 a month,
but more likely less.

Yes, I agree. As I mentioned on the "Business Visa" thread, I too was in this boat once (this boat = BA+CELTA but no experience abroad). This lands you about SAR7500 Embarassed. Nothing more than SAR9000 (unless you're really lucky).

If I could give a bit of advice: Oman is a great place to get experience and similar money as outlined above (if not a bit more and you may even be treated better). Consider going there, get the experience you need and finish the MA TESOL you've enrolled in. Rather take a chance there than in KSA.

Then, the rest of the Gulf will open their arms to you. And, as Kipling so Laughing pointed out, this does not mean guns!

I give this advice because it's been my experience. "Have MA will get nicer job... Cool."

The others who consistently post on this board - giving the same advice over and over again to sometimes desperate, sometimes irate posters - give good advice. In essence, there is no shortcut. There are more qualified teachers than there are jobs.

I'm going to check on a program tomorrow. If it's what I'm looking for, I'll enroll and get started.

I'm sick of ruts and sick of people around me who like being in ruts. I'm a guy who always looks for ways to improve himself. An MA is the next step if it's not retirement from this.
