hahaha...just joking. Information you posted about the process of applying at a regional office is excellent. I sincerely thank you for taking the time to post helpful information.
Moving on, I have A LOT of flexibility in my work choices. A re-entry permit is not a matter of life and death to me. I have time and I can work it out one way or another.
I do have �issues� however it is with policies of providing public services more so than the underlying authority of public agencies. The Japanese Immigration agency is a public agency that serves the public (both foreign and Japanese). How is it in the best interest of the public that they serve to only have services available during a limited number of business hours when the public is working?
I have a work permit but I have to take off work to service the permit? How much sense does that make?
The �we will serve you but only at a time that is most convenient to us� is a prevailing attitude with public agencies not only in Japan but worldwide (it is changing).
God bless Japan. They may recognize the problem of having such limited hours of service and have a �safety valve� built in at the airport to issue re-entry permits. More details about that are what I seek.
Can a brotha get a re-entry permit at the airport? |

That's the beauty of most countries' government offices. How many do you know will work on weekends? Live with it.

Then, I suggest you stop wasting our time here, stop ignoring obviously knowledgeable people and their advice, and contact immigration directly.

Sometimes you need to state the obvious. IF you feel this thread is a waste of time, no need to read or post. All the best to you.
Where there is smoke there is fire. There are posts that people informed to varying degree suggest a re-entry permit can be obtained at the airport. If you have ever obtained a permit at the airport OR you have been turned away, please let me know.
To define and better focus this thread will submit that the airport is a de facto regional immigration office for issuing re-entry permits (YMMV, try it at your own risk). I do not know the exact hours or procedures. If you have insight (1st hand or reliable 2nd hand) I would be pleased to hear about it. |
